Mission Trips

At First Lutheran Church our youth have a big heart for those in need. Not only do they want to hear about how people are struggling but they want to help out. Throughout the year our youth do all kinds of service projects from singing to the shut-ins to helping sort clothes at the Homeless shelter. However, some of their favorite things to do are to travel and do missions in other places.

Each fall our youth and others from the congregation go and help build houses for those who need adequate housing in Franklin county West Virginia. We call this trip our mini missions trip because it last only a weekend but the experince and memories stay for a lifetime. he year

Our Senior High youth have also traveled to New York City for the past three years for a week of working at Trinty Lutherans Lower East Sides meals and food pantry program. We not only serve those who are hungry but we take time throughout the week to learn about those who we serve by studying the different areas and people that meke up NYC.

In the fall of 2014 Pastor Ian Reid will be apart of the Synod Delegation to Madgascar in which we hope to renew and restore relationships with our sister synod.
