Education

At First Lutheran Church, there are many times throughout the weeks and months to grow in your faith. From Sunday School to Men’s Prayer Breakfast, there is something for everyone!

Adult Sunday School

Beyond the Basics (in the parlor)
9:30 am – 10:30 am Sunday Mornings

A small diverse group of adults with the need “connect” in a large church. We spend the first half of class in fellowship, sharing our joys and sorrows in a safe and supportive environment and then we pray together.  The second half of class we do a book study on a Christian book by authors like Andy Andrews, Mitch Albom or Max Lucado. Our “family” always has room to grow! We meet in the Parlor!

Adult Sunday School

What is a Lutheran? (in the pastor’s office)
9:30 am – 10:30 am Sunday Mornings

Pastor Ian will be teaching a six week class on what it means to be a Lutheran. We will be exploring the documents, ideas and reasons why millions of people have chosen to align themselves with the Lutheran comprehension of the Christian faith. So if you are new to the church or just want to know more about the Lutheran Faith come join the group.

Weekly Bible Studies

Faith Filled Women’s Bible Study
Every Tuesday 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm in the library

The women have lively discussions as they study God’s word and support each other in their faith journey.  And their journey is sometimes filled with laughter, tears, and always prayers.

Currently, the women are studying Leviticus! They have studied books by Max Lucado, Liz Curtis Higgs, Andy Andrews, Jill Briscoe, and Women of Faith Studies, as well as individual Books and people from the Bible. They welcome all women to this study class which is under the leadership of Becky Guice

Pastor classes

“The Screwtape Letters”
Wednesday 10 am – 12 pm
Thursday 6:30 am – 8:30 am

For these classes, generally lasting six-eight weeks. Pastor selects timely topics, select Books of the Bible, features on Martin Luther, etc., that are of interest for those that attend. He is always open to suggestions for future study sessions.

NOTE: Currently there is no Thursday night class

Confirmation

Confirmation in the Lutheran Church is the careful instruction of the youth in the basic teachings of the Bible and Luther’s Catechism. Youth attend regular classes where they are instructed so as to insure that they have the proper Christian knowledge and understanding to partake of Christ’s body and blood in the Holy Sacrament of Holy Communion.
